One of my first pizza visits in Philadelphia.
Was told this was the best place in Philly... I disagree.
I was so pumped to visit. One of the more embarrassing moments of my life. Ask me about it sometime!
Made a huge mistake when the guy asked if I wanted fresh tomatoes and basil, I assumed he knew what he was doing... I was wrong.
One of the best pizzas I've ever had. Sauce, cheese, bread, proportions were all excellent.
Holy cow, the texture here was great, but the sauce was so damn salty. May have been an off day, as it had just opened.
Very fancy place, with very fancy pizza. A regrettable order.
I prefer the Greek to their Marg, but both are satisfying if unspectacular.
This was at Grimaldi's new location after the move from 19 Old Fulton. Good, but not as good as the old place.
Tried this place on a whim. Good place!
Supposed to be the best pizza in Maui, cooked in a towed oven. Very good, especially when eaten on the beach... in Hawaii...
Knockout. Great sauce, crust, cheese. Great proportions. Fabulous.
Way too much parmesan (>0 is too much) and overall a disappointing experience.
A really good pizza, but a little overpriced, and a little small. But seriously good.
I always wondered what pizza on naan would taste like. I no longer do.
My favorite pie in Manhattan right now. Everything about this place is excellent.
I like Stella, but their Pistachio pizza is the real star.
Looks better than it is. Crust is a bit dry, but overall pretty decent.
Great pizza at a nice place in Austin. I don't get why pizzeria's don't slice the pie (I know, I know...)
About what you'd expect from a Casino ordered pizza.
Awesome pizza, and great gelato. A very good add to the Philly pizza scene.
This was a total curiosity choice. Wouldn't counsel you to make the same choice.
Nomad's second location. The pizza is not nearly as good.
Otto's version of a Marg is very different, obviously. It was fine, but not particularly noteworthy.
Stick with this version rather than the one with Ricotta. It looks interesting, but this is way better.
Pictures don't do it justice. The sauce remains amazing, though the overall quality may have dipped.
Better than Delfina, but fairly close. Great spot.
A little messy, this tiny, tiny, tiny spot in SF was a lot of fun!
I want to go back here, they have 3 ovens (wood, coal, gas) for different pies. There was a line, so I only had a slice.
This place is great. Used to be just a pizza truck (it's beautiful), but now a great b&m shop.
Just some bar pizza. Pretty forgettable.
RPNM tasting notes:
+ great sauce. It was salty and a bit sweet.
+ the crust was chewy, but had a good char.
+ appropriate amount of cheese!
- the pizza was a bit watery at first, possibly due to the cheese or the sauce. Once it settled, the texture was far better.
- the crust was a little bland. It could have used more salt.
- I would have preferred more basil.
NAP Antic tasting notes:
+ Perhaps the best crust I've ever had. This competes with Settebello, Il Cane Rosso, and the Brooklyn Pizzerias. Fluffy, chewy, flavorful. Truly excellent.
+ The sauce was also excellent. It was a bit sweet, but not overpowering.
+ Great proportions of cheese and basil.
- The pizza was a TINY bit watery, but this is a reach.
Overall grade: This is right on the border of an A/A-. It was truly excellent.
+ Crust had great texture; even though it looks dry, it was actually nicely chewy
+ The sauce was excellent. It was sweet, with the tiniest kick at the end. Great
- Despite having a great texture, the crust was bland.
+ Sauce was sweet (maybe too sweet)
+ Cheese was the perfect texture, and had great flavor
+ The portions were huge for a Neapolitan place
- The crust was bland. Read that again. The crust was bland. Forgiving the texture is one thing given the oven temperature. But the lack of flavor in the crust was a mortal sin.
- The pie came pre-loaded with Parmesan all over it. This is unforgivable.
+ Sauce was good, but could stand to be both a bit saltier and sweeter
+ The cheese was good, but also could be a bit more flavorful
- There was Parmesan all over the pie before it came out. What is this Atlanta madness?
- HUGE inconsistencies from slice to slice. You may notice that nearly half the pie is missing sauce, cheese, and basil!
A good pie ruined by terrible sauce.
